*I find if difficult to accurately translate “morena” in this context. Morena can mean different things in Spanish, especially depending upon where you are in the world. Here it is an endearing term for a person with dark skin. I can’t think of a single word in English that carries the full meaning. I considered “my love,” or “sweetheart.” But with those words don’t portray the dark skinned aspect. I also considered “Dark One,” but unless the reader understands it is written in as a term of endearment it is not sufficient.
