Fernando de la Morena, a leading figure of flamenco from the Santiago neighborhood of Jerez, passed away this week. Please enjoy the following three videos of him and this bulerías letra he sang. May he rest in peace.

Dices que me quieres mucho
hasta te mueres por mi
muérete que yo te vea
entonces diré que si

You say you love me a lot
so much that you’d die for me
die so that I may see
then I will believe you

Listen to Fernando de la Morena sing it in the video below at 5:15:

You can hear him sing this letra at 4:30. (And you can hear him sing that one again here in Carlos Saura’s, Flamenco, about 2 minutes in.

Here’s another video of him singing for Rocío Molina in one of my favorite videos of all time:

And here’s one more video of him in his neighborhood of Santiago with Moraito Chico on guitar:

Before I go, check out this portrait of him from Letras Flamencas and Juan Carlos Toro’s mural of him from Presencias. You can learn more about Fernando de la Morena here.
