*All dance classes include live guitar accompaniment from Santiago Lara during part of each class.
Beginning classes will include Mercedes’s signature body technique exercises that made me fall in love with her teaching ❤️ as well as some choreography.
Int./Adv. classes will be more choreography focused.
Bulerías de Jerez: Not only is Mercedes from Jerez, the land of bulerías where she’s been dancing since she was four years old, but she KNOWS HOW TO EXPLAIN this dance (something we can't always expect from accomplished dancers). When she's home Mercedes teaches bulerias to students of all ages and abilities. Get ready for a very fun and authentic bulerias experience.
Bulerías Compás with Santiago Lara, who is also from Jerez and has grown up playing flamenco guitar. This class can supplement the bulerías dance class or stand alone for those interested in flamenco rhythms. It will help give you the confidence to play palmas at that next fiesta or help you feel more grounded when it’s your turn to get up and dance. ¡Olé!

About Mercedes Ruíz
Mercedes Ruíz, one of the most esteemed dancers in Spain today and winner of such respected flamenco dance awards as the Critics Award at the Jerez Festival and the Exhibition Award at the Seville Biennial, has been performing professionally since the age of seven, touring across Europe, Asia, and to the Eastern United States. In 2003 she started her own company, Compañia Mercedes Ruíz, and has created eight productions together with her husband, Santiago Lara.
