Rather than a line by line translation, I’m going to share with you the the following explanation Emilio gave to me,

Strangers who one doesn’t know are always giving the orders, and the person who takes care of the fields doesn’t look at the land in the same way the owner does.

In other words, a stranger isn’t going to take care of your things in the same way you would.
