Flamenco Para Niños (for kids!):

A flamenco class for kids!

LOCATION: Lake Oswego

While actively moving and developing coordination skills and playing around with rhythms, students will study flamenco dance technique and flamenco rhythm. Students will learn dance steps as well as how to support each other as dancers using palmas (flamenco hand clapping) and jaleos (calls of encouragement) and cante (flamenco singing). [Parents, you are welcome to join your child in class if you'd like.]

"I want to move to Portland so I can take classes from Laura everyday, " said a little girl who came into town from Seattle for our summer workshop. What fun we had!

As a former elementary school teacher with a Masters of Art in Education teaching children is something I love to do. I teach flamenco residencies at general education schools in the Portland area, workshops for local dance schools/programs, and sometimes even in after-school arts programs. Currently I am teaching at Oregon Ballet Theatre, Steps PDX, and June Taylor's School of Dance Summer Dance Intensives. I look forward to working with your child (and perhaps you as well).
